We usually sell rooted cuttings in one gallon pots that have flowered, are a couple years old, been positively identified and had a price sticker stuck on. These above with yellow labels attached have been positively identified (and had a yellow label attached) but are not yet 2 years old (determined by the year painted on the side of the pot with a paint pen) when a price sticker will be attached. Notice the abreviation of the variety name we have positively identified them as being printed on the yellow label (apo is apothecarys rose, john cab below is john cabot).

Usually I send 2 one gallon plants (together for $30) in a flat rate priority mail box ($20 postage and handling) for $50. Big buyers arrange for me to show them the plants they would like in a web page such as this one in June when they are flowering then they show up with a truck and wads of money to buy them.

Most of these roses shown in the cold frame picture have not flowered yet or are probably only one year old so they are not yet available for sale.

The larger roses like this Alain Blanchard gallica rose on drip line in June are not for sale because they are the only source we have to take cuttings from. In November the big roses are kept with their roots mulched in the shade of deciduous trees (look for pot in pot in the newsletter) but in May through October we will take them out in the field and arrange them under drip line where they will get plenty of sun (and we can easily get a thousand cuttings or more from them in July and August). Check out my newsletter to see pictures taken in the nursery at www.floweringshrubfarm.com/garden.htm

In November the one gallon potted roses are being put away for the winter but next may they will be taken out, fertilized with bloom buster and arranged on tables where they can be sorted, photographed and watched for any identifying flowers.

I am 63 years old, have 30 years or more experience in growing these plants and am partially disabled. I work with relatives who can do the lifting while I tell them what to do and take the pictures for the newsletter.

Here's Curt in the potting shed preparing a flat rate priority mail package that I will send from the Post Office across the street.

This years rooted cuttings get cut back repeatedly so that their roots grow, filling the pot.
